My family serves this Dutch treat every Christmas & there are never any leftovers! You can use other favourite fruits too.
Makes 5 dozen
Soak yeast, sugar and milk together for 10 minutes. Slowly mix in eggs,
vanilla and salt. Add flour and mix to combine thoroughly. Add fruit. Cover
and let rise at least 1 1/2 hours. (Overnight is not a problem.)
Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls into hot oil. Turn when browned on one side.
Remove with slotted spoon and sprinkle with icing sugar.
