The place filled up, but not until 8:30. The place is a smokers hangout - our clothes reeked after leaving and had to be put immediately in the hamper. I had a bowl of clam chowder (good taste, good value) and the Irish stew (gravy to watery, tasted okay, but over-priced for what you get). Lorraine had the Tinker's plate (cup of soup, smoked salmon, potato skins and piece of cheddar). It was tasty, but a poor value. I can not recommend this place for dining. [Also, the live music is way to loud for a restaraunt.] Bardi's, Willow Road, Castle Shannon We arrived at about 7:30 on Saturday evening. There were a couple of empty tables (the place has not more than 12 tables altogether.) By the time we left, there was only one other couple, and they arrived just as we were leaving. This place serves Indonesian and Middle-Eastern food. For an appetizer, we had the Indonesian meat pie and stuffed grape leaves. For the main course, I had the Sate beef and Lorraine had the Lamb kabob. All of the food was excellant tasting, although I have no idea if it was authentic or not. They may not have a liquor license, call in advance to check. The portions were a reasonable size, and we both left satisfied. The only problem is that the menu is limited, so you will not want to go there on a regular basis. The bill for both (with coupon) was $21. We did not have dessert there, rather, we went to Brewster's and had a cup of Italian lemon ice... a perfect ending. I would strongly recommend Bardis. -- Gerry Roston (gerry@cmu.edu) | It would be almost unbelievable, if history Field Robotics Center, | did not record the tragic fact, that men have Carnegie Mellon University | gone to war and cut each other's throats Pittsburgh, PA, 15213 | because they could not agree as to what was to (412) 268-3856 | become of them after their throats were cut... | For some reason, too deep to fathom, men The opinions expressed are mine | contend more furiously over the road to and do not reflect the official | heaven, which they cannot see, than over their position of CMU, FRC, RedZone, | visible walks on earth.
